Supporting Northern & Central California and Northern Nevada Schools, Art Departments, and Restaurants with High-Speed Color Printing
Sacramento, California (June 27, 2025) — WiZiX Technology Group, a leading independent provider of office technology solutions in Northern & Central California and Northern Nevada, is proud to announce its new partnership with RISO Inc., adding RISO digital duplicators and inkjet printers to its growing product portfolio.
This partnership is especially timely for elementary schools, college art departments, and restaurants, which are industries that rely on fast, vibrant, and affordable color printing. It is great for those creative projects with short-run printing (instances of 500 copies or less).
“Printing on broader media at high speeds is something most office multifunction printers simply can’t handle. Bringing RISO into the WiZiX product line is a natural evolution,” said Eric McIntosh, Senior Vice President of WiZiX Technology Group. “Especially with our recent acquisition of Standard Business Solutions, we’re proud to honor the SBS legacy of trusted RISO digital duplicator support while introducing it to new industries and clients across the region.”
Why RISO Duplicators with WiZiX?
RISO duplicators combine the artistic potential of screen printing with the efficiency of a traditional photocopier. They are ideal for organizations that need to produce short-run or high-volume print jobs in-house.
The average life of a RISO machine nearly doubles the general 5-7 year life of an average office MFP: RISOs have a lifespan usually up to 10 years!
WiZiX is especially focused on supporting three key industries that benefit most from digital duplicators:
Schools
A great choice for zines, posters, cards, and printed art projects where uniqueness & creativity is essential.
Elementary schools benefit from the ability to print onto colored construction paper, helping teachers create engaging and visually fun materials for young learners.
University art departments can use RISO duplicators to get hands-on with their work. Students can produce original prints, design work, and zines at an inexpensive rate while getting the most involved with their projects from start to finish.
Restaurants
From customized menus, marketing pieces, to coasters for microbreweries, restaurants can take advantage of RISO’s ability to quickly print on a variety of paper stocks. On-demand printing gives restaurant workers full editing control and the ability to update frequently without relying on the time-delaying process of an external vendor.
Small Businesses
RISO duplicators give small businesses an efficient and affordable way to print newsletters, flyers, business cards, forms, and more. Advantages of printing in-house include maintaining full control over quality and turnaround time.
How is RISO Digital Duplicator Printing Different?
How RISO Duplicators Work
Unlike traditional CMYK laser printers, RISO duplicators use plant-based ink applied in layers. Each color is output using a wax stencil burned onto an ink drum, which then forces ink through the stencil onto paper—similar to a screen-printing process.
One-Color or Two-Color Printing
The most widely-known types of RISO duplicators are Two-Color Duplicators, like the popular MH9450 Single Pass Two-Color RISO Digital Duplicator. These hold 2 ink drums for 2 different colors at a time for a single pass. Additional colors require swapping out the ink and running the papers through the duplicator again. RISO One Color duplicators function similarly, which hold one ink drum and print a single color per pass.

Heavy Paper supported by RISO Digital Duplicators
Out of the box, RISO duplicators usually manage up to 210gsm, easily surpassing the needs of common cardstock or construction paper.
However, optional accessories can increase a machine’s capabilities to support heavier media. In example, the SF 9-90 Series optional Card Feed Kit allows support of media up to 400gsm!
This is why RISO is perfect for schools wishing to print on colored construction paper without any paper jams!
Riso Duplicators Printing Design Tips from WiZiX
Most RISO users stick to a palette of four or fewer colors. Techniques like overprinting and transparency layering to achieve depth and variation without needing full CMYK.
