What the Ricoh, Savin, and Lanier Merge Means for You

Wizix Tech News

In a strategic move to enhance brand strength and recognition, Ricoh has decided to merge its subsidiary brands, Savin and Lanier, under the Ricoh name as one consolidated brand. This transition, which went into effect on April 1, 2023, aims to streamline operations. They will still offer the same products and solutions their customers expect, but now under a single brand.

Continue reading to learn more about the consolidation, and how this recent Ricoh news may affect business owners.

Savin and Lanier Fully Merge with Ricoh

Ricoh, Savin, and Lanier have been giants in the business printer and copier industry for decades. Ricoh acquired Savin in 1995 and Lanier in 2001, and has been gradually phasing out the two brand names over the years. But with this recent consolidation, Ricoh is now operating exclusively under its own name.

While this change might initially raise some concerns about workflow disruptions, you can rest assured that very little will change in terms of operating your business and servicing your devices. The merger between brands is meant to align the product lines and identities of Ricoh, Savin, and Lanier to create a more unified customer experience.

Ricoh Will Offer Continued Support and Services for Savin and Lanier Products

This consolidation does not mean you have to get rid of your Savin and Lanier equipment. Ricoh remains committed to providing ongoing support for Savin and Lanier equipment. Ricoh and authorized dealers—including WiZiX Technology Group—will also continue to supply OEM parts, cartridge refills, accessories, and more for all currently supported Savin and Lanier machines.

Can My Savin and Lanier Equipment Still Be Serviced?

If you own a large business with an in-house IT department, servicing your Savin and Lanier machines will continue as usual. The only change is how to access Savin’s online resources, documents, and downloads, which are now on the Ricoh website.

If you own a smaller business and work with a trusted IT partner, they will continue to service your equipment without interruption. For instance, if you have a service and maintenance contract with WiZiX Technology Group, our skilled technicians will provide the same excellent service and maintenance for your Savin and Lanier equipment.

Where Do I Find Savin and Lanier Resources?

One inconvenience that this change brings about is that you will no longer be able to access the Savin and Lanier websites. However, these sites will efficiently redirect you to the Ricoh website, even if you have certain pages bookmarked. Any printer drivers, downloads, supplies, support, or resources you need can now be found on Ricoh’s website.
